Managing Your Finances

The Student Advice Service is available to help students with funding, managing money and budgeting.

Studying at University can be a big investment and managing your finances as a student in London can seem daunting. Our Student Advice Service team can provide financial advice and support to students throughout their studies. This might include guidance with budgeting or Student Finance advice, banking, Crisis Loans or Hardship Fund applications.

Scholarships and Bursaries

To find out about funding, scholarships, bursaries and awards available to Central students, visit the Scholarships section.

Student Loans

Home and EU students beginning their first undergraduate courses can obtain comprehensive information on student finance and support from the Government Student Finance website.

Applications for Student finance for the academic year 2023/24 are open now.

It is important to ensure you qualify for Student Finance before you apply.

Guide to Living Costs in London

Below is an estimated guide of what a Student should expect to pay per week in London

*based on three people sharing. Figures for food costs and utility bills have been estimated as of July 2023 following national increases in the cost of living. These figures are estimates (taking into consideration government grants to ease energy bill costs and projections for Autumn 2023) and may be subject to change.

It’s worth noting that the type of accommodation can change this guide. For example, Halls of Residence may cost approximately £190-£250+ per week (depending on location, catering options and room type)
