Challenging Liquid Place: Latest News

MAY 2016

Professor Sally Mackey, PI on Challenging Place, has been awarded a research prize for this work. TaPRA (Theatre and Performance Research Association) has awarded Mackey the annual David Bradby prize for Research in International Theatre and Performance in 2016.

The judges said 'From inside, from outside, this project shows change towards place in action and declares its ambition for further work. It is the work of considered scholarship and practice: far reaching, versatile, inclusive and impactful both for the communities with which it worked and for the academic sector which TaPRA represents. The work challenges us to think and work differently and offers a range of case studies on how this might be done. It draws on the author's sustained reflection and practice and brings together a wide range of methodologies. It is an exemplary example of developing and sharing practice which demands new ways of thinking, seeing and working  - a new way to occupy space and identify the place of theatre and performance research community in today’s lived experiences’
