Governing Body
The Governing Body is responsible for overseeing the School’s activities, shaping its future direction and ensuring it is governed and managed effectively.
It ensures compliance with the statutes, ordinances and provisions regulating Central’s framework of governance.
There are a number of committees that report to the Governing Body. Terms of Reference describe the purposes and structures of the committees.
What is the role of a governor?
The Governing Body has a majority of external members (independent governors). The independent governors are not members of staff and do not receive any payment for the work they do for Central.
Governors are chosen against agreed criteria to ensure a balance of skills and experience. They bring expertise and perspectives from a range of sectors and disciplines. Appointments are also made from within the staff and student body. The Chair of Governors is elected from among the independent governors. Central regularly welcomes new independent governors to its Governing Body. Expressions of interest should be submitted, with an up to date Curriculum Vitae to the Clerk to Governors.
