This summer, Central is excited to offer its broadest ever range of summer course offerings, with programmes suited to all levels of experience, and ranging in length from 3 days to 2 weeks. Our summer short courses are open to all and are designed specifically for those looking to explore the performing arts for the first time, as well as theatre makers hoping to add new skills to their toolkits.

Central is pleased to announce its 2024 rankings in the Complete University Guide’s league tables, where it has ranked 2nd in the Arts, Drama, Music and Dance Institutions table.

Central is pleased to announce that it has been awarded £1.35 million in investment from UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) to renew and upgrade its facilities and to support the launch of Performance Lab, which will act as a catalyst for research and development in Theatre and Performance in immersive performance and digital technologies.

Central is proud to celebrate the 12th Global Accessibility Awareness Day with Recite Me to raise awareness of the importance of digital accessibility and inclusion.

Across two days of programming, Central hosted a symposium organised by The International Network of Voice (INV), welcoming over eighty alumni voice practitioners and guests to investigate the theme of decolonising studio voice practice.

Ahead of the ceremony on 11 April, Central is delighted to announce that alum Ruby Ablett and Public and Cultural Engagement Fellow Dr Naomi Paxton, have been nominated for The Pantomime Awards 2023.

Central is delighted to announce that its Technical & Production team has recently signed up as a Supporter of Backstage Niche.
The membership provides Central with access to their diverse network of Freelancers, working across various disciplines, from Stage Management to Sound to Set Design.

The People’s Kitchen, a touring community art project that aims to bring people together for a hot bowl of soup and meaningful dialogue, has opened in Rainham, Havering and will take place daily through 18 March.   More than just a pop-up kitchen, The People’s Kitchen is a space of hope and togetherness where local people, community groups and organisations can come together to plant seeds for new food and cultural legacies, inspire social change, and imagine new futures.

Central’s Embassy Theatre has once again played host to the Association of Lighting Production and Design (ALPD) and White Light Ltd New Technology Showcase. The annual industry event featured the latest in lighting technology and was supported by Central staff and students from the School’s Lighting Design and Production Lighting courses.

On Tuesday 28 February, nominations for the 2023 Olivier Awards were announced and we are delighted to be able to celebrate news that several Central graduates have been recognised this year across a wide range of categories.

Central is excited to partner with The Stage for the first in-person Future of Theatre Conference. 

Now in its third year, the industry event will take place on March 29th, 2023 in Central's Embassy Theatre. It will also run online, as in previous years.
