We sat down with the New York Based writing team Joanne Sydney Lessner and Joshua Rosenblum to discuss their production of 'Garbo & Me', which makes its world-premiere at Central (performed by a cast of MA Music Theatre students) between 2 - 4 November.

In advance of the launch of Black History 365, we sat down with Dr Javeria Khadija Shah to discuss her work, the premiere of documentary film 'My name is.' and how audiences can engage with this work in the coming year.

To mark Black History Month, Central staff and students led by Dr Javeria Khadija Shah, Kim Myers, Rianna Simons and the School’s Inclusion Committee have worked to programme a series of events, activities and discussions.  Alongside these activities, a list of resources is provided which includes free external events with which staff and students can engage.

The Edinburgh Festival Fringe, the world’s largest arts festival, is back for 2021 with a hybrid of both in person and online shows and events, and Central is delighted to celebrate the involvement of its students, staff and alumni in this year's festivities.

Throughout August, Central Research Fellow Dr Dani Ploeger will exhibit Disobedient Devices at the Nairobi National Museum in Kenya. Dr Ploeger has been working together with artists Greenman Muleh Mbillo and Joan Otieno since 2017 on their research project of the same name, funded by the Global Challenges Research Fund. The outcomes of their research will form the basis of the exhibit.

Central is delighted to welcome its new Principal, Josette Bushell-Mingo OBE, who takes up her post from Monday 16 August, 2021.

Congratulations to Central’s Dyslexia Support Team who have been awarded the Association of Dyslexia Specialists in Higher Education’s (aDShe) Institutional Award! The aDShe Institutional Award recognises the work of a department or team working in further/ higher education and their contribution to the promotion, support, diagnosis or recognition of dyslexia and the support of dyslexic students.

The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama is delighted to announce that it has been awarded a grant of £526,133 from the Leverhulme Trust to establish a range of student scholarships and to further support its internationally recognised work in Applied Theatre.

On Wednesday 21 July, Central’s Research department will host A Roundtable on Sports Plays to coincide with the online premieres of Central’s undergraduate productions of Andrew Hinderaker’s Colossal, directed by Robert Styles and Sarah DeLappe’s The Wolves directed by Debbie Seymour, both streaming online from the 14 - 28 July.
