From Monday 15 – Friday 19 June, Central students studying on the BA (Hons) Drama, Applied Theatre and Education course return to The Minack Theatre with their devised production of The Friends of Narcissus.
The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, University of London is delighted to announce that Professor Maria Delgado has been appointed as the School’s new Director of Research.
From 29 April – 1 May, The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama’s annual Design & Crafts Exhibition celebrated the work of final year BA (Hons) Theatre Practice students studying on Costume Construction, Prop Making, Scenic Art, Scenic Construction, Design for the Stage, Theatre Lighting Design and Theatre Sound.
As part of its overall funding announcement today, The Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) has announced that it will increase its research grant allocation to The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama from £360,117 to £672,740 for the 2015-16 academic year.

The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama announces its results in the recent Research Excellence Framework (REF), which were this week released to Higher Education Institutions across the UK. Central is delighted to announce that its overall profile, In terms of its percentage of world-leading (4*) research, is the highest of all the assessed drama and music conservatoires in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
In November, Central’s Acting (Musical Theatre) students appeared in performances across the Capital, as well as in Derbyshire where they toured their production of ‘The Man of Mode’ at Derby Live.
On Monday 8 December, The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama hosted its annual Graduation Ceremony at The Royal Festival Hall, Southbank Centre. Alongside a class of new graduates, Central awarded Honorary Fellowships to Steven Berkoff, Maria Friedman and Sonia Friedman, and bestowed upon its retiring Deputy Principal (Academic), Professor Simon Shepherd, a Professorship Emeritus of Theatre.
Central is pleased to announce a number of updates to course offerings which will come into effect from the 2015-16 Academic Year. Among the changes are four new MFA options for existing MA courses, as well as a new pathway option in Writing for Performance on the Drama, Applied Theatre and Education BA.
