Governance

The Board of Governors of The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama is committed to best practice in all aspects of corporate governance. All Governors of Central are Directors of the Company.

Central endeavours to conduct its business in accordance with the seven principles identified by the Committee on Standards in Public Life (selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty and leadership), and with the guidance to institutions of higher education from the Committee of University Chairmen (CUC) in its Guide for Members of Higher Education Governing Bodies in the UK. In accordance with CUC guidance, the Governors have adopted a Statement of Primary Responsibilities which is incorporated within this statement.

Central is an Independent Company Limited by Guarantee and an Exempt Charity. Its objects, powers and framework of governance are set out in the Articles of Association which were approved by the members on 31 March 2008. The Privy Council approved the current version of the Articles in 2008.
