How do we appoint our Governors?

Central’s Governing Body is committed to ensuring transparency in its processes for decision-making, and this includes the appointment of new Governors. Central’s nominations committee maintains oversight of the Governing Body membership, which is reviewed on an annual basis. The nominations committee usually meets twice a year. Our articles of association define maximum terms of office for Governing Body Membership, and all decisions of the nominations committee – including the appointment or re-election of Governors - are made democratically in adherence to our articles and framework.

Central regularly welcomes new independent members to its Governing Body. Expressions of interest should be submitted, with an up to date Curriculum Vitae to the Clerk to Governors.

Staff Governors are elected by majority vote open to all permanent contracted staff.  The Principal and the President of the Student Union are ex-officio Governors unless they choose not to be.

Upon appointment, new Governors are welcomed to the School with a thorough induction which focuses on roles and responsibilities, Committee structures and our core values for diversity and inclusion.

No member of the Governing Body receives any remuneration for their work as a Governor.
